I often use nostalgic photos as the basis for my paintings; but this painting is a bit of personal nostalgia.

I painted this while still in college in 1971 as a commission for  a family friend, who displayed it in his home for several years... until he redecorated in a completely different style. So it came back to Mom, to hang in her living room for many years more. With Mom’s passing earlier this year, it has “returned to the collection of the Artist”. Next stop: Antiques Road Show?  ;)
