Stepping out of the Bike Racing World for this quick shout to radio listeners in Detroit. J.P. McCarthy was the king of Detroit radio for years. There will never be another like him, and his theme song was distinctive. WJR has since become yet another cookie-cutter milque toast radio station and now never EVER acknowledges their storied past. So finding this clip was nearly impossible for Detroit listeners until I dug through my private archives (a cardboard box of cassette tapes [someone please explain to the younger audience what cassette tapes are]).<br/>There’s something about music’s ability to store vivid memories, so this is - for sure - going to transport Detroiters back in time to when they’d start their day with JP’s show.
