  1. Managed business unit of strategic consumer research and advisory company. Expanded group from two to six researchers; doubled group revenue from $1.2M to $2.4M. Expanded coverage areas to include gaming, online, social media, and music.

  2. Provided strategic guidance and consulting services based on observational consumer research to clients including Fortune 1000 companies and major advertising agencies.   1. Hired and managed staff of 10 for Scient’s startup practice on the East Coast. Scient was a leading eBusiness strategy and implementation services company that has since been rolled up into Avenue A/Razorfish.

Cyborganic — San Francisco, CA — 1993-1997

  1. Founded pioneering venture in online access, self-publishing, and community tools and services. Cyborganic provided the infrastructure for independent content providers to create and publish their works on the Web. Cyborganic and members of its community made some much-lauded forays into original programming, including the development of the content and publishing infrastructure for two Fall 1996 online serials, The Couch and GeekCereal, that represented early examples of reality programming on the Internet.

CNET — San Francisco, CA — 1995

Executive Producer, Information & Technology Architect

  1. Worked with key members of initial startup team at CNET (now owned by CBS Corporation) to define integrated Web / television business presence. Built business case for and led specification development for integrated system for managing workflow and digital content assets.

  2. Member of the team that designed and implemented CNET’s workflow and content management system, which ultimately evolved into Vignette StoryServer.

Hotwired — San Francisco, CA — 1993-1994

Founder, Information & Technology Architect

  1. Founded Hotwired, now part of Condé Nast. Drove founders of Wired magazine to participate in the digital revolution in addition to covering it. Upon launch, Hotwired was the first advertising banner-supported online content site on the Internet.

  2. Developed the vision for Hotwired, including coauthoring the initial business plan to secure funding and managing the entire production and technology staff from inception to launch.
