Introduction
Born on 27 April, 1960 in Dijon to an artist musician father in the Parisian Republican Guard, after classical secondary studies and studying piano, violin and the trombone at the conservatory, and after successfully completing the competitive entrance examination, he joined the Ecole Nationale de Lutherie de Mirecourt in 1976, in the bow making class under the direction of Bernard Ouchard. After three years of study and earning a 3brevet de technicien en facture instrumentale2 option bow maker in 1979, accomplished a four year internship in the workshop of instrument maker Albert Claudot (Meilleur Ouvrier de France-Master Craftsman of France) in Dijon. He became self-employed in 1983 in the same town all while continuing internships with other colleagues.
Since 2000 he is located in the Haute Savoie region of France and enjoys the calm and beauty of the surroundings while producing his new bows.
- 1990 : Certificate for Workmanship (2nd Prize) Violin Society of America.
- 1991 : City of Paris Prize for violin bows.- 1996 : 3 Certificate for Workmanship (2nd Prize) Violin Society of America.
- 1998 : Dunhill Grand Prize, Métiers d'art.
- 1999 : Regional Grand Prize for exportation category Métiers d'art.
Jacques Poullot
Born on 6 March, 1961 in Dijon, after studying pharmacy, learned bow making through her husband so a to second him, then created her own line of bows from baroque bows to quartet and string bass bows.
