Quick post to let everyone know the KODT WEBSTRIPS are back.

Starting this week we’ll be posting two web strips each week (tuesdays and Thursdays).

It’s been about 8 years since I’ve tackled the chore of doing webstrips. The regular magazine (which is doing quite well by the way in this age of “print is dead” mentality) keeps me busy along with working on other products.

But for the past few years I’ve been quietly working in color behind the scenes. The time has come for the webstrips to return.

one caveat -- we’ll be rotating between new material and ‘reimagined’ versions of classic strips.
by “reimagined” i mean we’ll be taking strips from past issues and giving them the ted turner treatment (new art in color). But it will be more than that.

I’ll be using to opportunity to re-storyboard the layout, tweek the dialouge and (on occasion) even add a few new panels (or even new pages) to the original. Think of these as “Director Cuts”

With a monthly schedule and ever pressing deadlines many of the original strips had to go to press - ready for prime time or not.

So it’s nice to go back and give some of these classics some loving attention.

Don’t worry -- no Timothy Burtons here. The ‘reimagininG” is being done with a tight hold on the reigns.

So bookmark www.kodt.com and check in every tues and thursday for some KODT goodness.

if you follow me on twitter (jollyggood) you can get instant notifications the moment they go up.

One last thing -- spread the word (alogn with the link).

Game one!

Welcome Back!!

I made several New Years resolutons a few weeks ago. So far -- so good.

I'm trying to put more structure in my day (as opposed to sitting down at the computer and working 'unitl' I drop or find myself staring at the screen.

I'm trying to cut back on caffiene. (okay -- that's not going so well).

I'm also trying to clear out a lot of junk we've accumulated since moving a few years ago. I feel like I'm slowly being walled in in my home office.

So we've been sorting. One pile for stuff going in a yard sale next Spring.

One pile for the dumpster/charity.

And finally one pile of stuff to go on Ebay.

Back in 2000 we had two huge banners made for our booth to pimp KODT. You might remember them. They were 36 inches by 8 feet. One featured full color head shots of all the KODT characters. The other featured all the characters from the BlackHands. Really beautiful banners. Fans were constantly asking to buy them.

We stopped using them about five years ago because with our growing catalog there just wasn't any room. So I squirrled them away. Thinking I'd actually hang them in my game room when it was finished.

Well -- no such luck. They're too big.

One day a light bulb went off over my head and I decided to cut the banners up into individual head shots. I figured they'd look awesome mounted on foam board and/or framed.

Unfortunately they're STILL to big. Each head shot measures roughly 30 x 20 inches. And I have slopping walls in my game room and lots of memento hanging on the walls already. At best I can get two of the heads up.

To make a long story short they've ended up on the Ebay pile.

There are 14 in all (two are logos -- one for KODT one for the BlackHands). I'm going to be putting two up each week until they are gone. One of the Black Hand characters, one of the KODT characters.

The first two (Dave and Stevil) will go up Wed sometime.

These are one of a kind items. Trust me -- we lost the original art/files sometime over the last five years. And we only made the two banners once. So if you're interested check out thttp://shop.ebay.com/merchant/jollybgood35tz for all my current auctions (or just click the Ebay button on my front page).

Along with the banners we're putting up original KODT art and other collectibles every week.

Speaking of KODT you might want to visit www.kenzerco.com frequently this year. We'll be running monthly contests.
See http://www.kenzerco.com/index.php?cPath=22_23_92 for this month's challenge. Prize include original KODT art, product and other swag.

So good luck!!

Oh and by the way -- one of my other resolutons this year? To update my blog at least twice a week. So check back often. I hope to discuss KODT and give visitors a peek behind the scenes, discuss games and other geekness.

Game on!

Taking all the strips chronicling the knights’ war against their distruntled former hireling, Sergeant BARRINGEr and his “BaG WORLD” kingdom.

We’re taking the opportunity to do a ‘director’s cut’ of sorts with the material. Filling in some gaps, revamping the art/layout, adding new material.

It’s been a lot of fun retreading old ground and having an opportunity to present it to a new generation of readers.

At the same time we’ve been preparing for our upcoming 150th issue (slated to be a DOUble issue).

I’ll try to post some details on that issue soon.

So I dipped my toe and played around with it.

the results were pretty much a mess. I experimented with using heavy graphics, sound files, movies etc. Months without updates, i usually played around with the site between issues of KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE.

38,000 hits later (and check for $125.00 from GOOGLE ADSENSE) later I decided to scrap the entire thing and start over. This time with an eye for more friendly screen refreshs and a more interesting time in general for visitors.

So excuse the dust for the next few weeks as I get things up again. ;)

Jolly
