Welcome.
In the fall of 2007 I was awarded an academic leave for the Spring semester of 2009 from James Madison University to research “Integrating HDTV in Academic Environments”. My research was supported by grant from Apple Education. This semester-long exploration was a first for me. I visited over twenty universities and industry facilities.
Today’s world of video technology has drastically changed since my early days of using two-inch quad tape and EAIJ reel-to-reel systems. I guess I went “digital” when I purchased my first Mac in 1985. I started to animate little boxes across the screen using VideoWorks, the predecessor to Macromedia Director. I remember creating my first Quicktime movie that was about the size of a postage stamp! I was astounded at what I could produce with Final Cut Pro 1. I remember my first DV camera, a VX-1000 from Sony. I bartered my first HDV camera from Crutchfield and life hasn’t stopped in my exploration of how to better define and use HD video.
I’ve created this site for the sole purpose of sharing. I hope you will watch my videos as I attempt to define what’s been done and what’s being planned about integrating HD in university curriculums across the country.
Since starting my fellowship in January, 2009 I have shot and produced 40 plus videos of my site visits and special interviews. They were all shot in HD and posted in reduced size formats for you to watch. Also, if you would like to visit my main professional/academic site please click here: www.iedithd.com
Take care.
