Usually, about 250 days per year. I have found quite useful the products from ScotteVest.
They have wonderful items in Travel Clothing. I’ve received as gifts the Tropical jacket, Microfleece Pullover, and the Essentials jacket.
What makes them unique are their pockets. I can eliminate a carry on when I fly with these. My black jacket (above) has 22 pockets. I can slide my MacBook air in the jacket. Check them out!

I wonder how many times we have heard God speak in His Word and we ignore it? We know what is right but only obey what we want. We only obey when we want. It is obedience by convenience. Our focus verse, James 1:22 states, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

It is interesting to note, we deceive ourselves by hearing and not doing. Deceiving ourselves does not mean we are deceiving God. Are you a hearer AND a doer?

Think about it...

The agent got on the line after a short wait. He listened to my situation and replied, “You know, I am embarrassed to say I am not sure how to answer this question. I will need to research this and call you back.” You groan within thinking, “I called to find someone smarter than me. Now, I know, I will never get a call back.” In exasperation you say, “Why can’t I get someone who knows their stuff?”
Similarly, this world is calling out for answers. The focus verse states the believer is required to study the Word of God. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

We study it to be workers who need not to be ashamed. How many times have those around us sought answers for life’s difficulties and we have no answer to give. We call a friend, family member, or Pastor who we knows will have the answer.

The Bible is our sole source of answers in a world full of questions. Are you ready to answer? Choose a doctrine and study it. Find a topical Bible and search for answers. Your daily connection to the Word of God means you will have the answer when the questions arise.

Who lights your candle?

The unlit room contained darkness you could feel. The oppressiveness of the darkness could hardly be described. It was as if you were crippled by its presence. Fear laid hold on the occupants of this darkness.

Suddenly, a sound of a match against an abrasive surface was heard! In a brief moment a candle’s flame chased away the darkness. Darkness’ chains dropped and liberty was found in the candle’s warm glow. The one who lit the candle was embraced and thanked for his effort. His light brought liberty and showed the way out of darkness.

In life we have moments of crippling fear while in a place of darkness. We long for the liberty of light and specific direction out of the place we are held.
In my studying the Word of God this morning I came across this verse. It struck me as I read it. Psalms 18:28 “For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.” When faced with the uncertainty that is bred in darkness, realize this truth. The believer is never alone in this darkness. God will light your candle! He will turn darkness to light. God alone has the direction and liberty we need.

Has darkness seized you for the moment? Do you long for light? Who lights your candle? Any attempt to light our own candle will lead to frustration. Ask God to light your candle and point the way out of this chamber to where He needs you.
Think about it...
A Gospel Goer

This is a continuation of a series generated by a discussion on Facebook of things a Christian needs to be...
Fourteen years ago, I stood at the gate of this Romanian grandmother. She spent her days behind this wooden fence. The fence was symbolic of the confinements of her life. The economy, the uneasiness of transitioning from communism to democracy, and the hardships of living in such a rural setting all affected her life.

The day I arrived with a group of three, including a translator, we called out across the fence. She came to gate and we exchanged greetings. We gave her the gospel and her first copy of the Word of God. She embraced it and thanked us.

That day, I was well reminded of the significance of being a Gospel goer. How many people live without knowledge of God, His Word, and salvation? The confinements of life must not shield us from going and prevent them from hearing. It is clear, we must be Gospel Goers!

Our investments in missions do not exempt us from going ourselves. How much Gospel Going do you do? How many people have you taken the Gospel to inside the fences of their lives and told them the way of salvation? This woman never was the same as the day we came and brought light to her heart, home, and village.

Would God assess your life and call you a Gospel Goer? “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20

Think about it...
