Well, like so many well-intentioned projects in my life I find that I have not kept up with our site. Part of the problem is time (Where does it go?), part of the problem is Kyle’s Mac (Where does it go? Oh, to work with him!) and part of the problem is my good intentions but multiple other projects that I have tried to start and continue. Here are some of the highlights of our lives:
--In August we all went to Erie to visit the family. Kyle stayed one week, the boys and I stayed almost
three. It was hard to be away from Kyle but it was nice to have time with the boys outside of our
house (since I didn’t go out much this summer).
--While on vacation, we went with my mom and Alex to Pittsburgh where we had a fun day at the zoo,
Blake learned how to swim without his life vest AND under water, and where we got to see the house
and Jess bought!
--I have transitioned into being a home maker and not so much of an English teacher. In my mind I
thought it would be tough but missing the first day of school (since I was still in Erie) made it a little
easier to overcome. I am LOVING staying at home with the boys and Kyle has been very supportive
so that I have the opportunity to do this.
--Kevin (Kyle’s brother) and his wife found out they were pregnant early this summer and just found out
they are having a little girl: Anna Marie! We are excited to have a princess in our world of princes
--Blake started pre-school and I was a little sad at first. Then I realized I have four hours, twice a week,
to play with Bryan, take a shower, and even get some house work done! Blake likes his new school
and is making friends...some days he grabs his lunch box and runs out the door to get to his ride
without even saying good-bye!
--We lost power for a week when Hurricane Ike paid us a visit. We had up to 90 m.p.h. winds and lost
quite few portions of a good Maple tree in our back yard. Luckily we did not have any major damage
and we are hoping our tree will survive as we have had two large trees removed in the last year
already. Blake thought the whole thing was an adventure and, really, it was not that bad because
we had great weather and friends with power if we needed to get out of the house.
--At The Oaks Community Church we celebrated our one-year anniversary for weekly services!

Bryan is two weeks old today and what an adventure it has been! My mom has gone home to Erie, so we are fending for ourselves now. What a blessing she was to all of us, especially at the three a.m. feedings. :-) We are not alone, though, as our friends from The Oaks Community Church have been serving us by making wonderful meals and offering childcare time. Our family has truly experienced love from all those around us.

New updates on Bryan include fun tidbits such as: his umbilical cord has come off (at least half of it has), he was back to his birth weight at his first check-up, nursing is going really well, and he slept through the night last night (from 12:30 until 6:30). Hopefully all will continue to go well...especially the sleeping through the night element!

Big Brother Blake is loving every minute (or almost every minute) and never misses a chance to hug, kiss, and hold Baby Bryan. He has also taught him a few important lessons including how to put on clothes. We may need to re-teach that one later. My Aunt Kit and Uncle Albert got a Big & Little Brother T-shirt for the boys and Blake is loving wearing his!

My health is going pretty well. Some tenderness on the abdomen/incision area but trying to get moving around and do a little work at a time. Kyle is a great dad and has been spending time with Blake outside the house to give me a chance to figure out Bryan’s inner workings (or maybe to avoid poopy diapers).

More updates to come later!

Fortunately, as teachers, we have that benefit of taking it slow over the next couple months. Heather and Bryan came home Wednesday morning. He’s doing very well and surprisingly laid back (I’m sure that will change soon.) As Bryan continues to eat and sleep (more of the second), Heather continues to heal.

Between cooking meals, doing laundry, taking care of Heather and Bryan and playing with Blake, Sonya has been an absolute blessing. We are are extremely thankful. Heather and her mom went out for the first time today. They went shopping at Target (one of Heather’s favorite past-times) for baby stuff and other items. It was good for Heather to get out of the house for a while. Tomorrow night, the family might venture out to a church picnic and introduce Bryan to more of our friends. We will try get more pictures/videos up soon.
