“presented with confidence and precision. It does not falter. It hardly raises its voice, but defies you to look away” (5 stars) John Slim - Bham Evening Mail
“Spoken verbatim by the actors of The Crescent Theatre the result is a hugely powerful piece of theatre.” Critic’s Choice - Metro 8/4/09
This verbatim piece was originally commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre and Out of Joint. They wanted know what makes ordinary people carry out extreme acts, often at a shockingly young age. Interviews took place with ex -terrorists, peacemakers, journalists and hostages to create this important, illuminating and moving play.
Many recognisable characters including Mo Mowlam and Terry Waite are portrayed allowing the audience to witness their experiences, which resonate strongly as significant snippets of history.
Investigating themes of personal anguish and social injustice, Talking to Terrorists will evoke shock, surprise and sadness; an important insight into those who supported it, those who are against it and those who were caught in the crossfire.
