You see that countdown above? Scoble just confirmed that it's counting down to a new device announcement;
1. A new device is coming in less than 20 hours.
2. Internally, only a handful of people have seen it.
3. Despite the rumours, 'no one has gotten it right yet'.
What can we glean from all this?
It cannot possibly be an Nseries version of the 5800 XpressMusic. Nor is it the N99 HD video capture device that I've dreamed of for the last year, nor any of the devices mentioned on the (deliberately?) leaked roadmap. It probably contains technology which is considered - at least internally - to be cutting edge, hence the need for complete secrecy. The fact that only a handful of Nokia employees have seen it also means that it isn't going to be sat in your sweaty palm anytime soon, probably March 2009 at the earliest.
My best guess is that this will be a completely new class of Nokia device. At a very basic level the new device could be classed as a sequel to the N810 internet tablet, but with an added SIM slot.
The key features will be:
1.Large HD screen possibly even 16:9 720p.
2.TV out via mini HDMI at 720p HD resolution.
3. Near perfect virtual keyboard text entry (no slide-out keyboard this time).
4. Amazingly long battery life. 8-12 hours of continuous use.
5. Deep integration with Ovi, Music Store, Movie Store and other popular net service.
6. Powerful CPU and 3D processor making it ideal for flash apps and gaming.
7. Will include multi-touch and accelerometer support.
In short, think of highly spec’d netbook with no keyboard and a much smaller form factor. A Nokia netbook built for home use, a perfect compliment to your Nseries and Ovi. A Nokia computer designed from the ground up to as a home entertainment device, social networking tool and home control hub.
That’s my guess. Anybody else like to have a stab?
Exciting times! ^_^
