FILMED INTERVIEWS
In the past we have been invited to make short film interviews ( for programmes on ChannelM and BBC Radio Manchester which gave us very good live coverage. On each occasion we have been lucky that interviewers have shown great empathy with what we are trying to achieve, - to explore and develop artwork within the ethos of recycling and environmental awareness, and whilst needing to sell our work, not featuring the Gallery as primarily a commercial concern. We are running one of the videos in the Shed Exhibition area, and hope to build on this for future and create a information video – we have many visits from students, but also visitors who like to know how it all started and continues to work…… and watch out to spot several of our designs ‘hired out’ for production sets to ITV for “Blue Murder” series V !
We have valued the support from the local media - the costs involved in conventional publicity is a huge outgoing for a small business like ourselves and though we are committed to constantly finding new ways of doing this, having some help is greatly appreciated. Though we are a unique art and craft resource, offering original contemporary art, we remain an independent, self funded Gallery. All profits are ploughed back into the development of the gallery and its resources.

not-for-profit
We receive no public funding for any of our own work or for the gallery itself, exhibitions, courses or framing services.
We have by own capital, time and endeavor established this creative space.
This is a not-for-profit business - as artists/craftspeople we all earn our living from sales of our artwork, and any balance is invested back in to the running and development of the Gallery space, as well as support in the community, local charities and schools.
DEVELOPMENT
It has taken over five years to develop our Gallery to this standard.
We started with just the main Shop area to display our work. Six months later we opened the back room, and a year later we rescued and renovated the brick ‘Shed’ for Exhibitions, Courses and Preview Celebrations.
After much clearing of debris to the rear of the Gallery we created an outside space for garden displays - ‘The Urban Garden’
The newly built workshop is the last piece of the jigsaw and has been built and established for
The Framing Service
WHO AND WHEN?
This Gallery was set up in August 2004 by Glennis Andrews, Fiona Norton and Jack Lloyd, primarily to feature their own work.
Glennis and Fiona have worked collaboratively on framed collages and free-standing artwork using a number of different processes to recycle waste for over 20 years. Jack who has a long history of supporting their work has concentrated for some years on ‘recycling’ images via photography and digital techniques, in addition to his collage and sculptural creations. Jack also runs The Framing Service that specializes in using timbers from sustainable sources.
Artwork signed WAC is created by Fiona Norton and Glennis Andrews, and pieces marked with a Bystander tag are created by Jack Lloyd.

The Gallery is the only one of its kind, and is run on a voluntary basis by the three main artists, four associate artists and three other supporters. Each persons role is vital. The courses are generally run by one of the resident artists, at the moment usually Christine Lomas, Diana Kiernan or Fiona Norton. From time to time we invite colleagues to run courses which link to their exhibited work and as way to promote crafts using recycled materials.
In a creative and responsible way,
Creative Recycling
tries to make something out of household and general waste matter. We do not try to re-use or make something out of every fundraising
it of waste, nor use waste in every process. It is about a wider aspiration , and the intention to INSPIRE others to recycle whenever possible and promote sustainable living
In addition to those materials which we recycle, we use woods from sustainable sources and avoid all toxic processes. whenever possible we buy locally to keep transportation to a minimum.
We devote extra to labour costs for the collecting, sorting and cleaning of waste materials in preparation for the re-using processes for example paper- making and glass fusing. This enables us to fully respond to our commitment to recycle.
By working with waste we are promoting alternatives to landfill and incineration using thrown away paper, fabrics, plastics, metals, glass slate, brick, lead and a variety of wood waste..
