The 4001C64 has now been discontinued by Rickenbacker and are becoming even rarer. These guitars were rare even when they were in production and often had very very long waiting lists.

There havebeen/are a couple of new ones on ebay.co.uk recently for £2700 to give you an idea of what these are demanding new

This bass is designed to be a replica of the Rickenbacker bass Paul McCartney received and used in the 60’s before he painted it for Magical Mystery Tour and before he later Sanded it down.

Paul used this bass on some of Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour (where Paul ruined it with a sloppy paint job), Abbey Road and also used it extensively throughout his Wings and Solo career after stripping down to bare wood.

I bought this guitar in November 2006 from Fullers Vintage Guitars in Texas USA. I also bought the 4001C64S (Wings era Bass) and due to hard times one of them has to go so I have decided to sell buy beloved Fireglow 4001C64 to raise some cash.

Serial Number is 0618237 and this can be checked out on the Rickenbacker website (Serial Number Decoder) to show when exactly this guitar was built.

This stunning bass has the vintage Push/Pull Pot on the tone knob which allows you to switch from having the famous .0047 cap on or off (on is a very retro tone, off is a bassier tone)

This fireglow on this guitar is stunning with great wood grain showing through!

This guitar is in excellent condition with just a few very very slight blemishes.

There is a small paint chip on the back end of the bass and 3 very very very slight tiny dings on the top just above the horseshoe pickup. These are only noticable upon very close inspection so I am being quite picky here. I have pointed these out in the pictures on the other gallery pages.

The guitar has only been played a handful of times.

Here is the official rickenbacker description of this guitar:

From Liverpool in 1963 to the present day, this instrument meticulously recreates the greatest ancestor of the industry standard bass guitar. It is authentic in every detail, even to the 'horseshoe' bass pickup of 1931. A fully laminated neck with striped headstock runs the full length of the body for unparalleled tone and sustain. The only concession to modern technology has been a redesigned dual truss rod system permitting round wound strings as standard.

2006 Model - purchased from Fullers Vintage Guitars in Texas when I was in the States. Comes complete with original silver vintage case and original documents etc. Guitar is located in Essex, England.
