Lives and works in New York City
STATEMENT
Small, stylized human figurines appear throughout ancient cultures. They are found rendered in stone or clay, wood or bone, even string. Potent and enigmatic, their original meaning and purpose eludes us. Yet, to view this tiny figure through the museum glass, is to feel a powerful bond with its ancient maker and evokes all the joy and the burden of being human. The work seen here is my response to that experience and to the complexity of humanity in our present time.
All works are hand sewn on linen. Materials used include buttons, beads, shell, braid, lace and fabrics.
Work is mounted on stretched canvas. Available for sale by application to the artist.
