Welcome to the West Kent Walking and Outdoor Group!

We are a young walking group, (20’s to 40’s), are part of the Ramblers Association, and we provide a mixed programme of walks most Sundays. We also organise social events, weekends away, plus other activities. Below is our current programme of walks.

Walk: 7.5 miles
Lunch: Hot lunch in Lullingstone Country Park cafe ( no need to book )
Comments: A lovely walk heading north to Lullingstone Castle, lake and Country Park via Shoreham.

Walk: 8 miles

Start: 10:30am - Meet at Farningham centre on BRIDGE
Walk: 8 miles heading north to Shoreham via Lullingstone park and cafe.
Lunch: Picnic lunch with stops en-route hot/cold drinks cafe or pub.
Comments: A lovely walk following the Darent Valley

Walk: 9 miles circular
Lunch: Picnic lunch followed by pub stop at Ringlestone.
Comments: A great walk taking in the remote countryside on the North Downs above Harrietsham.
Sunday 7th February

Start: 10.30 am Holly Hill car park in Meopham
Walk: 8 miles
Lunch: Picnic lunch
Comments: A relaxed walk through mature forests and surrounding farmland. Fantastic views over the North Downs.
Sunday 14th February

Start: 11.00am Muswell Manor car park, Isle of Sheppy
Walk: 8 mile circular
Lunch stop: Pub lunch at The Ferry Inn
Comments: A flat walk with views, lots of birdlife and a medieval church. Good pub, (book in at least 2 days before walk). Car sharing recommended. Please wear something pink or red for Valentine's Day
Sunday 21st February

Start: 10.30am Penshurst church. Parking in lay-by (Note - Low mobile phone reception here)
Walk: 8.5 miles
Lunch: Picnic lunch
Comments: We pass through Heaver and Chiddingstone before returning to Penshurst mostly flat ground through fields and woods. Can be a little muddy in the winter. If travelling by train please note that Penshurst Station is not near to the start point.
Several tea stops are possible we will choose on the day depending upon what is open.

Start: 10am - Public car park in Borough Green GR 608574)
Walk: 10 miles
Lunch: Pub lunch at the Kentish Rifleman, Dunks Green (www.thekentishrifleman.co.uk ) or picnic lunch near pub. Please book in by Monday 22 February for the pub option.
Comments: The route goes through the pretty village of Basted, and across fields and through orchards to Dunks Green..After lunch, we skirt the edge of Shipbourne, before going north through the beautiful grounds of Fairlawn House and further orchards before ending back at Borough Green.
Saturday 6th March

Event: 3 mile walk followed by lunch at the Chaser.
Meet: Meet 11.30am at Shipbourne Church (next to the Chaser)
Comments: A short, scenic walk starting and finishing at the pub. It takes in Igtham Mote and the Fairlawne Estate. Food at the Chaser is excellent and we return to this popular venue.

Lunch: Picnic lunch
Comments: A varied walk with beautiful views across the High Weald.
Sunday 21st March

Start: 10am (Prompt) at the car park at Shipbourne Common (TQ 593 522)
Walk: 14 miles
Lunch Stop: The Padwell Arms, Stone Street
Comments: This varied walk takes in some interesting National Trust sites including Old Soar Manor, Igtham Mote, Knole Park and One Tree Hill. Optional drink stop at the end.
Sunday 28th March

Start: 10.30am The Lion pub, Farningham
Walk: 7.5 mile circular
Lunch: Picnic lunch with pub stop at The Chequers, Darenth
Comments: A riverside walk, following part of the Darenth Valley path. Passing through the villages Horton Kirby and South Darenth. Re-scheduled from November.
