The genuine and original Watford Camera Club was founded in 1903, and is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.  We meet on Thursday evenings at the Friends Meeting House 150 Church Road, Watford WD17 4QB.

We are a friendly club and offer a mix of entertaining talks, seminars, competitions and social activities.

New members and visitors are always welcome - you don’t have to know anything about photography, only to have an interest - you’ll pick up the rest on the way!  Film is welcome, but the majority of us use the latest digital cameras and techniques - we have a digital projector and we teach Adobe Photoshop at our Workshop sessions.

Obituary - Joan Randall

It is with great sadness that we record the passing of one of our longest-serving members, Joan Randall on Thursday 28th January 2010.   The Camera Club had become an important part of her life in recent years - she really enjoyed a night out to the talks and competitions.  In fact, she had attended regularly over many years, originally with her late husband, Frank.  As a couple, they specialised in audio-visual shows, which they also did to support the National Trust.  She also did a lot of work for the Girl Guide movement. Always a friendly face, always willing to help, Joan will be sadly missed.

The funeral will take place at 10.20am on Friday 12th February 2010 at Garston Crematorium, Watford.

Having lost two meetings as a result of the bad weather, we held our first meeting of the year on 21st January - the third in our Workshop series.

John Marshall and Denis Barlow from Hemel Hempstead Photographic Society presented an excellent evening on 'Lighting Techniques for Studio Photography' - with opportunities to take photographs of Terri, Jacqueline, Tony and Michelle who were ‘volunteered’ as models.

Terror search laws :

photographers protest in Trafalgar Square

London's Trafalgar Square was the location on Saturday for professional and amateur photographers to gather to protest against police stop and searches.

Watford CC member Eddie Dillon was our man on the spot.

The photographers say people with cameras are being intimidated by police in tactics to target possible terrorists.

Last week the European Court of Human Rights ruled as indiscriminate the power to stop people without suspicion.

The government is saying it is vital to make cities a hostile place for any possible attacker and is therefore appealing.
