Unfortunately i was not going to be in the country on the actual date...so i wanted to make something she could use on her special day.....The Cake Topper. The ceremony was to be outdoors in a natural setting, so what i did was a couple of love birds sitting under a flowered heart shape arch....atop a hand-made glittered base...decorated with bits of paper and vintage trims. I loved it so much when it was finished that it will surely show up in the Glitterville Wedding line that comes out next year!

This spring in commemoration of Mother’s Day I made these weedy crowns created with German glass glitter , posies and small wool felted characters...in one of my favorite motifs.......BEES and the Honey Hive... Not only eating it, but making it. There was a time when the most important thing to me was learning all the latest techniques for decorating....but somewhere along the way, i decided to start focusing on taste....Even though New York City (at that time) had a couple of Southern style cupcakeries (more now)..they for the most part were uneducated on the subject of Southern Sunday’s Layer Cake Cuisine. So i decided to make this my focus....and in my world there’s no such thing as a 2 or 4 layer cake....they must be split into at least 8 layers and laced with home made frostings and fillings. Here’s a few photos of my Yummy Coconut Cream Cake, taken at my house on Easter....around the time i fell behind on my blog:) and thats my friend Nanita holding the plate!

Unfortunately it seems like i can never find the time to do it. We went to see the new movie Julie & Julia last night and it was fabulous. I have always been a fan of cooking shows and remember watching Julia Childs when i was little...it was the only NON-NEWS thing on our television because we did not yet have Cable TV....but my Nana did :) The movie was about a woman who blogged daily about cooking her way through Julia Childs French Cookbook. I figure if someone could not only discipline themselves to cook a new dish daily....but could also blog about it that night..i could surely find the time to post my crazy adventures.....i have a lot of catching up to do, since the last one was in March....
