Well it’s been a long and busy summer, and we’re coming to the end of the season at the Skipinnish Ceilidh House.  We’re celebrating with a huge session tonight in the Skipinnish Ceilidh House Fort William, with all our talented musicians and a few special guests.  I won’t be able to join them till late evening as I’m singing in Strathpeffer tonight as part of the Blas Festival.  the gig is being specially put together as part of the celebrations for Feis Rois’ 25th Birthday.  I’m really excited to be singing with the lovely Eilidh MacKenzie, who was my first tutor at the Feis!  Concert starts at 7.30pm in the Strathpeffer Pavillion.

The new recruits for the Skipinnish Ceilidh House Summer Season start today!  We have six musicians in Oban, and three in Fort William, and they all start their training today for performing the Skipinnish Ceilidh Show through the summer months.  The first show is on 29th June, and runs seven days a week until 11th September!

We are celebrating the opening of the brand new Skipinnish Ceilidh House in Fort William.  I have been given the job of Manager (help!) and I’m also now the official Musical Director for the Ceilidh Houses, so I am really excited to get started! I’m delighted to be performing as part of the celebrations for Feis Rois’ 25th Anniversary at Celtic Connections.  The gig will take place on 22nd January at 2.30pm in the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow. We’re all set and ready for Lorient and the Liet International Song Contest, where we’ll be performing my song Fada Bhuam in the final of the competition.  The contest starts at 8.30pm local time on Saturday evening, and you can listen live on-line, and vote for your favourite for the public award by clicking here.

Just back from Thurso after performing with Skipinnish at the final night of the Royal National Mod.  It was a great night and a great Mod by all accounts!  

I’ll be having a chat with Bruce MacGregor on BBC Radio Scotland’s “Traveling Folk” program this Thursday, and sharing three of my favourite tracks.  Hope you can listen in!!

I’m delighted to announce that my song Fada Bhuam has been chosen as a finalist in the Leit International song contest to be held in L’orient, France on 27th Novemebr this year.  The competition represents minority languages in Europe, and I will be competing against ten other entries - wish me luck!

The summer season at the Skipinnish Ceilidh House officially ended last night with the last of our fantastic shows.  a huge thanks to everyone who came along, and to all our fantastic musicians.
