I write Local Lauderdale to recount facets of Fort Lauderdale from an insider’s view. Much is about plants, but I haven’t constrained myself, so you’ll find some variety.

My father’s booklet of poetry and prose is available at: A Celebration of Life (PDF download). Ralph passed away at home in February 2010. Gary published Dad’s narrated slideshow, under Ralph’s iVu. Gary prepared the soundtrack including the beautiful original music, Ralph’s Theme.

Gary, my partner since 1994, has several sites of his own, including his music published on iTunes.

If you landed at this site via the surname, I have information and photos of my ancestors, much of it a legacy of my parents. I uploaded most of the genealogy onto WorldConnect, a large online collection of genealogy databases. The index to our 1,199 uploaded ancestors is in the “richbrobee” database at WorldConnect. You may also email me at Richard@Brownscombe.net. Many ancestor photos and letters are not yet digitized and most have not been published.

Riverside Park, a slideshow walk on the more scenic streets of our Fort Lauderdale neighborhood in 2006.

Bayshore Child Care Services, my client, friends, and work since 1993.

Drafted into the Army, sent to Vietnam in 1968, and a voice against war. In my lifetime, war has not been an effective means of progress or protection. Here are a few non-gruesome photos (by others) of my infantry unit during 1968-69.
