Folk School 2010
A hundred and forty participants attended the tenth annual Folk School and Mikell Conference Center, March 5-7. There were thirteen offerings including wood turning, stained glass, copper enameling, weaving, scroll saw, pottery, Appalachian basketry, Appalachian broom making, creative writing, felting, painting, knitting and quilting. Our teachers were all skilled in their crafts, and several have taught at John Campbell Folk School. Participants came from north and south Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas.
There will be an autumn craft workshop in October. If you would like to receive information on upcoming events contact frankallan@bellsouth.net and we will put you on the mailing list.

Inner-city Art Centers
We suport two art centers in the Atlanta inner-city: The Friendship Art Center at Holy Comforter Church and The Community Art Project at Emmaus House. Friendship Center works with people who have mental or developmental disabilities, and the Emmaus House Project works with people of all ages who live in the Peoplestown neighborhood of Atlanta, near the Capitol. Both offer a full range of activities, including crafts, wood turning, painting, computer graphics, potters, weaving, etc. Check out these centers and their ministries online:
