Back to my personal Disney Photo Archives. This is a view of Disney’s Camera Department taken from the roof of the Animation Building. You’d probably be hard pressed to guess when this picture was taken since things haven’t changed that much on the Disney lot.

Since it’s now late November 2009, it’s hard to imagine this photograph was taken in the fall of 1958. Much like today, we were all looking forward to the holidays, and a much needed break since our feature film, “Sleeping Beauty” was finally wrapping up.

I don’t know why I was on the roof this particular day. Maybe to simply get a breath of fresh air and a break from the drawing board. The work was hard, but it wasn’t a chore. many of us had mixed emotions about the completion of the feature. We sensed the Disney Studio would be going through massive changes in the next few months, and things would never be the same.

Flash forward to current day, November 2009, and the Walt Disney Studio is once again launching a new animated feature film. Much like our fifties animated classic, a great deal is riding on this new hand drawn animated film.

Let’s hope and pray they have better luck than we did.
