This is our first day of blogging. While we have done this before our cat life has never been the subject. A few months back our very smart and encouraging webmaster, Derek, suggested that we do one. We dismissed the thought—thinking too much information is the key to boredom. But other folks have suggested the same thing. Too many times. So, this blog exists at first to keep the voices quiet for now. We’ll add to it irregularly, as things worth mentioning  beg to be mentioned. Read in date order or randomly. Click on colored text for more. And that’s about it for tips on enjoying this.

We’ve had a rough year, personally and from a feline point of view. Personal family tragedy colored most of the summer. Barbara’s job kept her traveling through too many weekends while the challenges of living with a brand-new teenager kept the household in a whirling state of activity and catastrophe (toilet-diving iphone, annoying little sister, missing ‘good’ jeans and uncooperative hair.) From our point of view, we had a hard time appreciating the reason why bright pink mineral makeup dust ended up coating her white dresser top and the formally brilliant white feet. bellies and muzzles of Duke of Earl and Leo. Our breeding program was set back with 3 lost litters and several empty matings.

So, that is where we are and what led up to now.

A grey December day

Our year ends with a big dollop of hope. Our kids are still glowing with Christmas cheer (and lost in Christmas gifts.) Jim and I head into 2009  still employed—a real blessing given the major job reductions in both of our industries. Two of our queens, Ruby Tuesday and Cinderella (Mona), gave birth to a total of 4 healthy kittens, 3 for Ruby and 1 for Mona. Look to an upcoming blog for more on them.

Our first home-grown grand! Duke of Earl (LBJ—stands for Little Blue Jay) earned his title-bestowing Grand Premier points in Lynn Search’s ring at the Moorestown, NJ show this past November. He’s a son of Betty Bebop (retired at the start of this year) and CH Rikki Tikki Tavi (still happily siring kittens.) Many, many thanks go to our friend and fellow breeder, Linda, owner of Bo-Town Persians, for her advice, support and unconditional encouragement.

Meow for now.
