So, I have a secret obsession- bento boxes. They’re cute, tidy, and hold wholesome food in an appealing manner- what’s not to love? The concept behind Bento is that you buy the size of box that fits your age/stature and that if you fill every nook and cranny with a variety of healthy foods you will get just the right amount and nutrients that your body needs.
For more information on the specifics and what size is right for you visit Lunch in a Box. Her website is full of great tips and gorgeous food- fun even if you don’t care a wit about Bentos and just happen to be a foodie and like looking at pretty photos of food.
My real reason for being interested is that I tend to eat healthier if the food is appealing and part of the theory behind Bento is to pack healthy foods in a manner that makes them visually enticing. Admittedly my photo consists of ranch dip and fish crackers- not the most healthful- but it does limit portions as well which is a start. Besides- who can resist a cute little stacking box that says “A late lunch with a true lover is the symbol of happy life. Let’s enjoy the delicious lunch with a mellow music.” Totally cracks me up every time- gotta love the Japanese/English translating!
