CANCELLED forever!

It is with a heavy heart that I post this message from the Riverstock Tri Organizer Committee:

I am very sorry to report that our preregistrations for the Riverstock Triathlon, scheduled for Sunday, August 28th, 2011, are running far behind expectations.  As of this moment, we have only 45 paid registrations for the event.  Our goal had been 75 registrations by Wednesday, July 27th.  However, because of permitting requirements for the Shikellamy State Park, it became necessary to make a yes/no decision for the event today.  After reviewing all available information and speaking with our race organizing committee, I have decided to cancel the 2011 Riverstock Triathlon.  I have not made this decision lightly, but I cannot risk this event losing money for the Montour Area Recreation Commission and I do not want to inconvenience the many volunteers, EMS, fire police, state park employees, boaters, local residents and others for such a wide-ranging event with so few attendees.  I thank all parties involved with the planning, advertising, permitting and other preparations for the event and I apologize for any efforts already spent on this race.  I will be sending out an email to all registered racers within the next day, notifying them of the event cancellation. 

It is my intention to provide a full refund to all registrants and I will also offer a discount for registration at a future River Towns Race Series race.
