Date - The date has been moved one week earlier in order to accommodate another great local race. The Dutch Wheelman are hosting a race on 5/23, so instead of having two great races on the same day, the ever friendly and accommodating River Towns Race Series offered to move our race date to 5/15/10.

Teams - At the request of some riders over the past 4 years, we are now going to offer a team category for the race. Teams will compete for a CASH PRIZE equaling 50% of the entry fees collected. Team riders will receive a t-shirt, but will not be eligible to qualify for individual awards. This way, no one group “runs the table” of awards.

The top three teams will receive awards:
First place = 60% of all prize money
Second place = 30% of all prize money
Third place - 10% of all prize money

Discounts - Teams race at a discounted rate because the “economy of scale” dictates that larger groups can realize savings over smaller groups. The teams category is also not in the running for individual trophies and awards, so there is some savings to the race there.

Early registration saves you money. The cost to register online increases as we get closer to the race. Price increases happen on the 13th of March, April and May. The earlier you register, the deeper your discount. Register today!

There is also discounts on lodging, food and more that are offered from time to time by local businesses. Check the “Specials” page of the River Towns Race Series website for the latest specials offered EXCLUSIVELY to our racers.
Just curious. A few people don't believe I finished :-).
I sure picked a good one for my first race. Towards the end all I could think was please not another hill make it stop please. I'll be back next year. I must like pain. This was a great experience. It completely changed my outlook on what I can do on my bike. As my first exposure to racing I hope all of them are as well organized as this was. Thanks for a great event.”

George Weller
______________________________

Are the results going to be posted on your web site? I don’t want to be pushy, but I was just wondering.

Thanks,
Bryan Barrett

(the guy who flatted at mile 16, waited more than 20 minutes for the sag vehicle, then rode alone for the next 60 miles and still got a decent 50+ time after losing exactly 30 minutes. J )
_____________________________

Thanks again-that’s a huge undertaking!! Thanks for the food and drink after the race. The lead pack lost the lead car before 20 miles-nearly missed a turn-think the car stopped to stop traffic for us-I have gone to the Kinzua Classis out in Warren-that race got so big-150 + ; it now sends riders out in 3 packs-Expert-Intermediate-Novice. I think you have about hit that point! Makes for a much safer race. Hope your getting some sleep at nights again! Good job Take care

Jim

-ps are results up?
I found the bottles pictured above and the shorts below. If they are yours, let me know and we’ll figure out a way to get them to you.

I also found other water bottles, but have already made arrangements with those folks to return them.
Today they are predicting a beautiful day with highs around 72°.

We go either way at 8:30 a.m. Both versions of the weather will make for wonderful stories for years to come.

More as it develops.

The photo above was taken at the top of the big hill in Anthony township at about the 35 mile point. It is fairly typical of what I saw for the day on many of the rural road sections. Lots of cinders remaining on road surfaces from the winter months. Lots of pot holes, and newly cracked macadam.

What this means to racers is...
1. Fewer clear lines for passing on climbs.
2. Caution on the fast downhills as clear sections of road sometimes change.
3. A more fatigued body from more steady jolts and jarring.

So how could it be any better?

Ahhh, they may be predicting rain for Saturday. Stay tuned.

Dave the Organizer
