Why become a member ?
The society is a forum for professionals and experts in the field of performing arts worldwide. Members (individuals or institutions) are active in:

The society has the following aims and activities:
function as a meeting and exchange point for the members
organise conferences and seminars
signal new developments and stimulate debate
support activities of the members
maintain a website which serves as a sign-board
influence policy making
publish professional articles, books and other media
act as intermediary for obtaining funds to support any of these activities
Membership of the society (see for details below) entitles you to receive all the Society’s publications and to attend its concerts, workshops and meetings.
What you get is:
a free copy of the CD ‘Field recordings of Dutch ethnomusicologists’ (as long as supplies last). This album was issued by the Society in 2002.
full participation in lectures, social gatherings, field report meetings, special workshops (with internationally prominent researchers and performers) and conferences which the Society organizes. Often these events are enriched by live music and accompanied by snacks and drinks.
support for activities and project that further the goals of the society
The membership fees of the Society are (2009):

€ 17,50 for students
