dinner and a show
Friday, August 21, 2009
(I’m on a bus headed south to Centralia, WA for a field trip - so I’ll take advantage of my “down time” to work on updates - I could be doing real work too - but why would I want to do that??).
After our very relaxing afternoon at the spa, we headed back to the room to change for the show and our dinner at Palo. We started by having a few more photos taken - and then headed to see “Twice Charmed”, Disney’s unique twist on the Cinderella story. This is a wonderful show!

One small bad thing happened during the show - Chris went in to get seats, and I stopped at Preludes to get us a couple of Frozen virgin pina coladas to relax and enjoy. I got the drinks and headed into the theatre. As I was drinking, I kept tasting this grit in my drink. Now it was dark - and I didn’t think much of it at first. About the third time, I stopped when I found a LARGE piece of grit on my tongue and held my cell phone up to it - and it was a GLASS chard!!! I grabbed Chris’ drink (come to find to find out - he thought it was ice) - I knew that both drinks had come from the same blender - so I headed back to preludes and told the bar tender. He looked at me a little weird until I showed him the glass chard (I’d saved it) - and then he took the glasses, removed the blender from use, and then offered me two new drinks. He didn’t take my name, or my room number (remember this for later), but he did thank me profusely for telling him.
And then after the show - we headed to Palo for dinner.
For those that don’t know - Palo is the adult only northern italian restaurant onboard the Magic. I learned that the reason it is italian is that the ship was built in Italy... which makes me wonder if the new ships will have GERMAN adult restaurants since they are being built in Germany... (sorry - I digress). Reservations are required, and since this is not in the normal dining rotation, a service charge of $15.00 a person is charged for dinner. The menu is wonderful, extensive and you can take 2 or 3 hours to complete the meal. The romance package included a dinner for two at Palo and a bottle of wine from the Palo wine list (very very extensive list). We were seated and met our server (who’s name completely eludes me at the moment) and he offered us our bottle of wine. We explained that neither Chris nor I drink. Our server told us that he had the perfect solution for us and brought us a bottle of Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider. It was EXCELLENT!! I’d never had it before - neither had Chris - but we both agreed that this is what we will drink at the wedding for our toast!
Dinner was wonderful - I had the filet mignon, the carpaccio and the chocolate souffle. I don’t remember what Chris had - I think he had the caprese salad as a starter and we split the calamari, but I don’t remember his entree. He also had the souffle - and we were given a panna cota as well... WAY TOO MUCH DELICIOUS FOOD! After dinner - we were presented with a chocolate plate (which I later learned we could have kept!) congratulating us on our ANNIVERSARY??? Ok - that doesn’t normally come before engagement - but its the thought that counts. Right.

As we left, our server brought us a second bottle of Martinelli’s to take back to the room to drink later (we never did - it’s a home, in the fridge). After dinner we headed back to the room since we had another early morning excursion planned in Cozumel.
