do you ulu?
Monday, July 6, 2009
I woke up at 3, 4, 5 and 6 am before I finally got up at 7am. I talked to Chris for about an hour and after a shower, I went to the executive lounge and had a slice of ham, a boiled egg, a slice of cheddar cheese and some fruit.
I came back to my room, got my camera and backpack and headed out to get the car from the hotel where my classmate Jodie had parked it (He and his wife went to Mt. McKinley for a few days and didn't need it). Then I went to AAA for maps and guides, the Alaska Visitor's Center and the Anchorage Visitor's center. I got more guides, did some shopping and then after a few texts and emails with my classmate that lives in Anchorage - I went shopping.
I went to the Ulu Factory (http://www.theulufactory.com/) and bought an Ulu or two as well as a few other kitchen items and Alaska items. A Ulu is a native Alaskan knife that has become a coveted kitchen knife and was recommended to me by a Co-PA member from Alaska. I came back to the room to put the purchases away and then got some lunch.
Lunch was Alaskan halibut (yummy fish) and water. I was VERY tired after lunch, and decided I might take a nap. I talked to Chris a bit more, texted with some friends and decided to go and workout in the hotel gym.
I did 30 minutes on the treadmill - 2.06 miles. It is a NICE exercise area!! It has a pool and hot tub too - I might head back down there this evening.
I am planning on going out to dinner with friends and coming back here to get some sleep around 10 or 11. I might try to take a dip in the hot tub too...
Tomorrow I move over to the class hotel - and Jake, Jeremy and Steve arrive - so I will be hooking up with them. I might also try to workout in the morning before I head to executive lounge for breakfast. I will report back in on my dinner choices later in the evening.
