drawclose : the photopoems
when i decided to become an artist, i understood that gesture had meaning. the action of making is part of the encoding process of artmaking.
choice of media became part of encoding meaning into the work of art.
(instant gratification)
photopoems are immediate gestures, moments of sight and thought joined and placed in front of a (possible) audience immediately. the internet as illusion of immediate connection - to other, to information, to audience - as potential gratification via connectivity to these others while maintaining a safe distance.
(the illusion of instant connection to the other)
this body of work is best understood through and by and in the digital realm in which it is produced. this work exists in its nothingness, as images stored as information, as images stored as thought, as images projected on screens to those who discover them in the digital darkness on the photobox of their own computer monitor.
