Welcome to my web space, where you will find information about my work and personal interests.
In my work life, I am a physicist based in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge. My research interests are in understanding how the behaviour and properties of materials, including natural materials such as silicates, can be understood at the level of atoms and molecules. My primary research tools are computer simulations and neutron scattering. More details can be obtained form the links above.
Beyond work, I live in the outskirts of Cambridge (UK) with a wonderful wife and family. Something of my personal life, sufficient to give a flavour but not quite enough to compromise personal security, can also be found from the links above.
My web space here has been designed to integrate information across much of my work and personal life, including aggregation of different sources. You can navigate around my web space using the links above. Beware that the style may not be uniform between the various pages, which is due to using different technologies for different areas.
The motivation for my web space comes from the realisation that my web presence is used, quite reasonably so in most cases, by people needing to obtain information about me for a variety of different purposes. I have designed the site with the anticipation that most interest is from the work perspective. It is my hope that these pages will be slightly easier to maintain than other pages I have created in the past; in part I am hoping that the tools I use will help realise this ambition. I once was asked whether I had stopped publishing, because I had not updated my publications page in a year!
