<richText>X-Fit - "Best Shape of My Life Challenge" - Part OneJuly 19th, 2011I had ice cream yesterday. It was the sweetest thing I have tasted in the last three weeks. Having said that, I have been doing well on this “Best Shape of Your Life Challenge” before I turn 30, business. Thirty has less to do with it then the life style change, promoting health and fitness while I travel means I need to be the example, experiment, or even role model for those listening/reading. Basically, I am turning myself into a lean mean fighting (you never know what will happen on this tour) machine. But the sugar and dairy from yesterday, it turned in my tummy, and I could FEEL my insulin rising, but I can't <i>never</i> eat ice cream again, right? I am doing the "Best Shape of my Life Challenge" without the $50 motivational fee that my Crossfit Gym offers for two main reasons. First, I am not following the strict recording procedures; I did this late winter and found that I feel and work best eating Paleo. Instead, I jot down how many minuses a day starting with 20pts. If I have a cheat item -2, if I miss a workout -2, if I miss a liter of H2o -2. Ideally I try to have as many 20 point days as possible for the rest of my life. This system is easy to keep track for when I am on the road and I invite anyone like me (those who get off track and have addictive personalities mmmm...donut!) to utilize it. Secondly, the dates of my gyms “challenge” don’t work for me, because it is hard to eat strictly Paleo on a bike tour to Burning Man on your 30th Birthday. Some folks ask me, “how are you training for your 300+ mile bike tour?” My response, “I’m not! But my week looks like this: swim 3 days, gym once, crossfit 2 days, run 2 days, yoga/meditation/stretch routine 7 days, climb or hike 2 days, and bike to work.” Currently, I weight 134 lbs (naked in the morning), I still have flab under my arms and thighs, can feel fat cells on top of my “hidden” four-pack, I am hoping to “reveal” for Burning Man! Do I feel like I am in the best shape of my life after the first three weeks? ... no! But really close and super motivated. Update in another two weeks, see you!-X- </richText>
