Our Journey . . .
Our Journey . . .
Thanksgiving
The weather here is outstanding right now - the LEAVES are actually changing color and falling!!!!!!!!!!! Something we have missed for 19 years living in San Diego! It's cool and Fall-like and just gorgeous!!! We are lovin' the cold weather! Well, I guess you can’t take the California out of us - lol! We feel cold at 60˚ and turn on the heat at night - HA! It gets into the 30˚’s at night and sometimes only the 50˚’s for highs - Amy is in heaven!! We actually get to wear coats here?!!!
We have been here for almost 4 months now and I can finally say - I can actually find my way home from 2 places now, by going 2 different ways!! I'm so proud of myself - LOL!!!!!! I have to say, I am definitely getting tired of not knowing where anything is and getting lost! Oh yes, I do have a GPS on my iphone, and it’s a lifesaver, but I’m definitely not using it while driving unless I pull over so I do still need to use my brain to get places lol :) We have wanted to get take out a couple times too and we just look at each other and have no idea where to get it from. UGH! We did find a good Chinese take out place and after trying 3, we found a good pizza place (Papa Murphy's - they make it, you take it and bake it). Of course, not as good at Rosaria's Pizza in SD, but pretty good :) I am really longing for Rubios and Chevy's! I tried mexican at a restaurant here........well, lets just say, it tasted like east coast mexican....good but not really mexican. We do need to try a few other mexican restaurants, I'm sure there is something better, surely! Ok, now for a bit of humor - we have been laughing at some of the names of restaurants out here for a while now. They truly are funny! Ok, here's one: Chuy's Mexican (now would that be asian mexican??? lol), Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse (does that even sound appetizing?), Chubby's (ok, just a poor choice there)...there are others, I just can't remember them right now. But they do have Steak-n-Shake (I grew up eating there!! And kids eat free on the weekends!!) and Cracker Barrel (our VERY favorite restaurant!!!)! Dave and I went out to a Mexican Restaurant tonight for our belated Anniversary (19 years!!) :) It was Uncle Julios, ok, the name is mexican at least! :) However, on the menu among other things, were QUAIL and frog legs!!! Ok, if that is Tex Mex - I think we are about done with that!! LOL The menu did not have one burrito or chimichanga, mostly fajitas and a few tacos and very expensive. I think we can safely say that San Diego is the restaurant capitol of the US, hands down! :)
Mei Mei’s sleep has improved!!! Well, she was up 6 times (or more) last night crying BUT 10 days prior to that, she slept through the night 8:30pm-7:30am (except for once where she woke crying twice but put herself back to sleep eventually!)!! Yea Mei Mei!! We have renewed hope! And Kali lost a second tooth!!!! AND she can ride her bike without training wheels!!!!! GO Kali!!!! We just started potty training Mei Mei today (at HER request) and it went pretty well. 2 accidents but she’s very motivated and “Will work for marshmallows!” Stay tuned for the potty report :)
