ZING IN PRACTICE:

Burlington Danes C of E Secondary School, Hammersmith:

As part of the schools’ move towards Academy status, all 180 year 7 pupils were ‘consulted’ during the course of a morning about their views and opinions on what ‘were aids to their learning’ and also ‘what could make this school even better’. At the end of this mornings workshop, a print out of the report as presented to Keith Millar, Associate Headteacher, who commented that ‘using ZING enabled all pupils to participate, both the quiet and the more vocal’, to the extent that the report we received was a truly representative set of opinions on how we can make the process of learning for pupils at BD even better than it currently is’. Furthermore, being able to use the technology to seek clarification as well as to explore individual responses, meant that the use of ZING is highly preferable to using pre-determined questionnaires that we had previously used

Charville Primary School, Hillingdon:

Having recently been inspected and identified as a ‘good’ school, Peter Shawley’s aim as Headteacher is to make Charville a ‘great’ school. Part of this process was to lead an training day for all staff – teaching, support, administrators and … as well as governors, using ZING as a facilitation tool to identify the next steps and stages to developing a great school. Peter commented at the end of the day that ‘undoubtedly using a facilitator experienced in ZING certainly enabled us as a whole staff to explore many more aspects that would have traditionally been developed using post-its and flip charts – furthermore to receive an electronic version of the finished report at 4 pm that day meant that we were able to move forward swiftly with our plan of action.’
