Shakim “Areas Neter”  - Biography

SHAKIM is a man on a mission, his care and dedication to the art and craft of music as well as his determination to create a body of work which informs as well as uplifts is unwavering. He chose the name Areas Neter meaning “Free Thinking Son of God” as his studies into antiquity led him to the life changing revelation that The Creator wants a direct relationship with each one of us. Having being born with the last name Williams he chose to take the original last name of his true Father.

Shakim attained a BSc in Music & Education from Central State University, Ohio. Upon moving to Atlanta, Ga., in 1996, he worked with other  music producers including Dallas Austin (TLC, Monica, Boys to Men, Madonna), Eric Sermon (Method Men, Rev Men, Keith Murray), and Tony Mercedes (TLC, Tony Braxton, 69 Boy), Jermaine Dupree of So So Def Recording and most recently Akon..

Hi credits include recordings on several labels notably, Elektra Records, Island/ Def Jam Soul,Break’em off Records/Def Jam Records, Bad Boy Records, Sony /BMG Records, Universal Music, Disney.

Shakim has worked with many  Artist including :, 112 with Bad Boy Records, Kelly Price with Island Def Jam Records, Latasha from Escape So So Def, Mr. Cheeks from Universal, Left Eye Lopez of TLC, Trinity Stone with Sony/BMG in London, uk, Akon from Universal Records, Mr. Rogers with Columbia Records, Devyne  with UpFront Entertainment.

“My most memorable moment was being asked by the Mayor of London to perform at a Peace Rally in Trafalgar Square. Gibson Guitars sponsored my performance. It was a chance to reach out to people in England with an American perspective and to learn that we all have the same thing in common. PEACE.

As a classically trained musician, Shakim has a very electric style and has produced and performed different styles of music, ranging  from Gospel to Rap to Classical to Rock. He sings, composes, produces,and  plays several instruments including guitar, piano, trumpet and drums.
