The Course, open to 30 students, is designed to meet the needs of journalists making the move forward into visual storytelling for the web. Throughout the four days you will hear from industry leaders who will present and discuss all things multimedia.

We ask that students submit a topic they would like to explore during The Course. By the end of the sessions, students will have taken their story from conception to completion with the help of our team. Your stories can be serious, light, news-oriented or explore a topic that is meaningful to you.

Using Canon video equipment, students will shoot their story in the field. Teams will return to the studio at Ryerson University to edit their footage into a finished piece using Final Cut Pro on Macs supplied by Carbon sound and picture, along the way, receiving one-on-one coaching from top professionals.

To register, or for inquiries, e-mail thecourse08@gmail.com. Please include a short paragraph indicating your experience level, and explaining why you want to take The Course and what you hope to get out of it.

Students will work in pairs. You can choose your partner, or we will assign one to you.
