Masthead

On Saturday 7/11/08, I was hoisted to the top of the mast of my Morgan 416 and was able to take the pictures below. I COULD NOT do anything from my position in the bosums chair.  The marina wants about $800 to use their truck and bucket.  I think I am going to build my own custom platform to hoist in position below mast, then go up on separate halyard and step onto platform .

I need to install my Maretron WSO 100 wind sensor and drop cable down mast.  Click here to see the WSO 100 manual and installation instructions.   I was going to drop the cable with factory connectors, however, I saw that there is a conduit in the mast and will try and pull “field  cable” through from top attached to  the old wind machine wire.  The field cable is different than a cordset with factory connectors at each end.  I will then have to apply my own field connectors after wire exits mast at step. Will also need to add field connector at top of mast.  I hope that fits in the maretron WSO 100 assembly with the terminating resistor.   I am following the Network guidance provided by Maretron to create a network MICRO cable backbone.  The backbone will start at top of mast, will exit at mast step and T with the DST100 depth sensor, continue aft and T with the SSC200 compass, then into engine room where it will get a power interface, then continue to T and hook in the GPS100, and the DSM250 color display, in the future, it will continue back and hook into the AP24 autopilot from Simrad.

Need to find out how to install the wind sensor which needs to stand proud above or below the mast head light.  Thinking about create a T with the plumbing pipe, have it go forward away from the windex, have it supported by a light bracket, and route wire down into the same pipe to enter mast or have wire enter hole where wire exits now to get to old wind machine, Hmmm !
