...THE TOUR HITS MT. PALOMAR!

When Bobke (aka: Bob Roll) announced the route of the ’09 AToC (during the famed L’Alpe d’Huez stage of the TdF) I saw that the FINAL STAGE would be here in San Diego.  With a climb up the famed Palomar Mountain with 22 switchbacks and 4,000’ elevation gain, I immediately drew a circle on my calendar!  To “celebrate” the event, I rode the Palomar loop the day before the stage with 200+ cyclists which was hosted by TREK San Diego (thaks Mike Olson and the staff!).  Later that day I parked my car (fully loaded w/ beverages and grub!) at the top of the climb-then I rode home to PQ-50 miles away!  On Sunday, along w/ local friends Bernard Mougel and Mike Reilly, we climbed Palomar (again) along with hundreds of other crazed enthusiasts.  This was an epic day....they say more people attended this than any sporting event in US History! We all saw the TOP names in Pro Cycling- Armstrong-Leipheimer-Schleck brothers-O’Grady-Hincapie-Zabriske-Landis...I could go on! It was a wild party on top of Palomar that day. Memorable to say the least.  These pictures tell the story as San Diego did itself proud (as did ALL the riders) that day.  Enjoy...
