Balance is an application designed to help you keep track of the balance of one of your accounts.  Intended to replace a paper-based checkbook register, Balance maintains a list of credits and debits to your account.  When you enter a new transaction, Balance automatically recalculates the account’s balance.  You can protect your information with a password.  Balance also allows you to export your transactions to your computer.  With Balance, you’ll always know how much money you’ve got in your account so you can avoid overdraft fees.

What's New In Version 1.1:

Password Protection

Balance now supports password protection.  Passwords of any length can be created and used to secure your data.  By default, passwords are entered using the number pad; however, an option in the Settings app allows you to switch to the alphanumeric keyboard.

Export

Balance now allows you to export your transactions to your computer as a CSV file (which can be imported into programs like Excel and Numbers).

Better International Support

Balance respects your region format setting for both currency and date.  If it's still showing the incorrect currency, go to Settings > General > International > Region Format and confirm that you've selected the proper format for your locale.

Updated Editor and Date Support

Balance now uses a table-based editor similar to the one in Contacts.  In the future, it will be much easier to add additional fields.  The first new field added is a date field, added in response to user feedback.

New Icon

Balance now has a new icon, courtesy of Ian Gordon.  Many thanks to Ian for the icon and his generosity.

Other Changes

- The transaction type has been changed to Deposit/Withdrawal instead of Credit/Debit, and Withdrawal is the default transaction type.

- The name field is no longer required.  If not set, it will default to Deposit/Withdrawal based on the transaction type.

- The text size of controls has been increased in various places.

- The list of transactions displays the date in addition to name and amount.

- Transactions are now sorted by date.  An option is available in Settings to sort with the earliest transaction first or with the newest transaction first.
