Lydia Hope

It was many years ago when we began the journey to adopt a baby from China. The journey has been a long and painful experience with many twists and turns in the path we followed. At times we felt like we wanted to give up but our Lord led us and carried us all the way! Finally on the 22nd January we received a referral for a little girl age 9 months old waiting in Kunming, Yunnan, who was born on the 7th April 2008. She has a heart defect (ASD) which may need repairing when we bring her home. We began the process to adopt her and waited for the necessary approvals which at times, felt as though they would never come! It seemed like all obstacles were in our way, for no sooner were we close to receiving our Travel Approval to finally go, the swine flu spread to China and appointments to meet our baby were on hold. However, God moved mountains for us to travel to China on the 30th May!!! Please join us as we journal our travel to China and back to meet Lydia Hope. You can link to a blog to follow our journey each day and photo albums at the top of this page.
On 30th May, we began our journey to China to meet our beautiful daughter Lydia Hope Chan Yuan who was waiting for us in Kunming, Yunnan. We arrived in her homeland Sunday 31st May, checked into our hotel and were informed that we would be meeting her at 9.00 am the next morning!!! And so began the first day of our lives with our little treasure!
