Welcome to the Seventh Grade Book Talkers blog. Your assignment is to choose one book that you will read by December 11, 2008. Your book should be at or above seventh-grade level. If you aren’t sure about the reading level, please check with Miss McMillan or visit Amazon, search for the title of your book and scroll down to where it gives you the product details.

You will need to have your book review written before we visit the computer lab on Monday, December 15th. To make it easier, you may wish to type your book review ahead of time and bring it to school on a flash drive.

The Three Steps to Follow

When Writing a Book Review

Note: You do not need to answer every question; these are only suggestions to guide your writing. However, you will need to write at least one paragraph for each of the following sections.

1. Write at least 3-4 sentences (a good, solid paragraph) about the plot

    * What was the story about?

    * Who were the main characters and what did they do?

    * What were the problems in the story for the characters (conflicts)?

    * What were the exciting adventures?

    * Who was your favorite character and why?

    * DO NOT give away the ending (or if you do, post with a label of SPOILER ALERT)

2. Your opinion

    * Did you like the book?

    * Did you relate to any characters in the story? How so?

    * What was your favorite part of the book? Why was this your favorite?

    * What was your least favorite part of the book? Why did you not like this part?

    * If you could change something in the book, what would it be? If you wish you could change the ending, remember not to tell the ending to the story you read!

3. Your recommendation

    * Would you recommend this book to your friends?

    * Who should read this book? Why would these people like it?

    * Who should NOT read this book? Why not?
