Located in the historic Crackaig Bay area (www.theisleofjura.co.uk for further information), Dubh Bheinn is approximately one and a half miles from the village of Craighouse, and is reached by a single track road through typical Jura landscape, with views of the Paps in the not so far distance. The majority of this journey is along a private access road, of a somewhat uneven nature. So take care when driving.
Craighouse has the usual village amenities including a store/post office, village hall, Church, hotel (featuring food and bar), a primary school and a doctor's surgery.
The famous Jura Distillery is also situated in Craighouse. So what more could you ask for?
The Isle of Jura itself is 29 miles long and 7 miles wide in places. The population of approximately 200 is vastly outnumbered by the estimated 6000 deer on the island. It has a rich natural heritage with much to attract those who wish to enjoy walking, climbing, and bird watching. In addition, a programme of Community activities runs through the year, such as the Jura Music Festival, Sheep Dog Trials and a Regatta. There are also events such as Clay Pigeon Shooting, Fishing competitions and the annual Fell Race.
Dubh Bheinn consists of Double Bedroom, Twin Bedroom, Living Room, Kitchen and Bathroom, and is situated within walking distance of Craighouse.
Electric heating (included in price), coupled with lots of insulation means Dubh Bheinn is not only for summer breaks, but winter too, especially for those who wish to avoid the midge population.
