Cultural and Ecological Discovery at Your Own Pace, on Your Own Terms
CapeRace Cultural Adventures is excited to announce a new tour for 2009, CapeRace ICE. During this eight day trip you will experience the best of the Avalon and Bonavista’s Peninsula’s iceberg structures, while hiking and walking on trails set within Newfoundland’s spirited local communities. The CapeRace ICE trip design is based on our award-winning “Eco-Culture Experience” tour, which carries through concepts that allow the traveler to travel at their own pace, on their own terms, while creating the opportunity to become involved in the local community.

How It All Works
CapeRace ICE provides you with options. The trip itinerary is yours. You make the decisions. During your eight day stay, you will have exclusive use of two newly restored, fully equipped coastal homes. CapeRace ICE is a land, sea, and air experience that will allow you to get up close to some some of the more amazing aspects of the Arctic’s ice flows as they migrate south each year. You will fly over the Bonavista Peninsula, hike or walk the trails that are located near sighted icebergs, and you will have the opportunity to get close to the icebergs on the sea via boat. Tips and notes on cultural activities, restaurants, and other wildlife sights are also offered should you choose to augment your trip. There will be a interpretive guide available should you decide to use one. We provide you with a fully stocked refrigerator based on your personal order, so your dining options are extensive. Stay in, or dine out. Pack a lunch, or buy a lunch. Transfers will be available to drop you off and pick you up at different locations as desired-- a car is not necessary.

So-- the itinerary is yours. We provide you with trail recommendations and options, an interpretive guide should you decide to use one, the option of a fully stocked fridge, and two beautifully restored coastal homes. All under your exclusive use, at your own pace, on your own terms. View the CapeRace ICE video, or visit us at www.caperace.com

Where You Will Stay
The newly restored Hipditch House is located in the historic Battery neighbourhood of St. John's, about a ten-minute walk from downtown.  The neighborhood, the oldest in St. John's, stretches along the bottom of Signal Hill towards the Narrows, looking out at the North Atlantic.   Although it is entirely within the city, the Battery Neighbourhood maintains the look and character of a 19th century fishing village.
While in Bonavista, you will stay in the Thomas Mouland House located in the historic Mockbeggar neighbourhood. The house was purchased from the Bonavista Historical Society in 2006, and the restoration was completed in 2007.
Both Hipditch House and the Thomas Mouland House are exclusively yours for the duration of your stay, so there will not be any other travelers staying with you. You call the shots. Stay up late or go to bed early. Go to be early, or stay up late.
