After visiting USC over spring break the JAGS and the staff took a trip to UCLA for one of their spring scrimmages. We had a chance to tour their strength facilities and Hall of Fame. Here we are with Head Coach Rick Neuheisel.

JAGS TRAVEL TO USC

After spring football practice USC HEAD COACH PETE CARROLL took the time to visit with members of the 2009 football team. He encouraged our players to compete and practice with intensity. Earlier at the USC team meeting (our players were in the meeting room and then went to the individual position meetings) Coach Carroll spoke to the Trojan players about finishing the spring semester strong academically. He also reminded them of their commitment to their teammates, parents and university to graduate and be eligible.

In the top picture, BRAD BENTLY (Grossmont HS on the right) listens to coach Carroll’s message with his teammates. Below, the group that made the trip.

ALUMNI HAVE SUCCESS

QB DAVID ORTEGA (Palo Verde HS), HAKIM THOMAS (Castle Park HS) and DAVID FERRIS (Bonita Vista HS) all made their way to the Heartland of America Conference this winter and are thriving.

With the start of spring football two of the JAGS had a big spring scrimmage. ORTEGA led the team to a TD on every possession. HAKIM had two interceptions with one returned for a TD.

DERRICK PERRAULT PICKS WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY

DERRICK is pictured with fellow soph CHRIS SIDDENS (Otay Ranch HS) has signed on with Western New Mexico University. DERRICK was a two year starter for us and led our team in tackles his freshman season.

DERRICK holds over a 3.0 GPA.
