The Leadership Academy was founded on three simple yet essential principles:

Faith, Family, Service

Without faith in yourself, you cannot and will not envision yourself becoming successful, achieving goals and living life to your fullest potential.

Without love and support for and from your family, your heart may not be nurtured.

Without service to others, and our community, our future remains uncertain.

The Leadership Academy is an alternative to the traditional educational standards based curriculum, which has been proven over the past 10 years to be ineffective for many students.

Just like in our society where people come from many walks of life, so do our students, and as a result, the “No Child Left Behind” method of teaching and learning is in fact leaving our children behind. The TLA is geared toward all students and educators, from every walk of life, and will work to bridge the gap between cultures, lifestyles, economic status and personal beliefs- in an effort to teach tolerance, respect and self ownership.

tla has over 10 years experience working with lausd schools and associated student body/councils. we developed the Leadership in training and education program (l.i.t.e) at crenshaw high school, that helped prepare incoming student body officers for their significant roles on campus. the leadership academy has hosted student leadership retreats at la county residential campsites as well as at disneyland california.

tla’s leadership coaches are certified “7 habits of highly effective teens” workshop facilitators. We have received personal training in leadership development from some of the top leaders including john maxwell, les brown, todd newton, lisa nichols, ed mylett, shawn & Jaime villalovos and gloria mayfield banks.

“We build Leaders within our youth and Young Adults”

through a series of personal development programs, we restore hope back into our youth and young adults. goal setting, organization, time management, effective communication are essential practices that our participants begin to master.

Leaders aren’t always born, they are oftentimes created, and the absence of leadership is chaos. It is our belief that with the instillation of sound leadership principles and exposure to alternative scenario based curriculum, youth will once again understand and embrace the forgotten virtues of life: love, integrity, honesty, morality, gratitude, service, respect, honor, faith, commitment, responsibility, dedication and ambition.

It is through our personalized one on one coaching sessions that we will in fact create change one youth at a time. our mission is simple- “To develop leaders who will in turn develop leaders that will develop more leaders.” We will create a system by which leadership development never ends.
