In April 2009, the chris byars quartet travels around the world, representing the united states of america as cultural ambassadors.  these four jazz musicians will perform concerts and give educational workshops in faraway lands, with the purpose of creating mutual cooperation and understanding between the people of their host countries and their faraway homeland. 

the rhythm road is sponsored by the united states department of state bureau of educational and cultural affairs, and administered by jazz at lincoln center.
