Volunteers from different Warren County area packs plan monthly hikes and then lead light outings with scouts from many packs.
Let’s give our cub scouts the chance to get outdoors in the Bowling Green area with fellows from their own dens and packs as well as others from the area to earn their stripes with some fun, healthy hiking.
What is this program?
Area scout leaders plan simple hikes ranging anywhere from 2-5 miles (we’ll shoot for a range of distances over the course of the year) in a park, through town, wherever a trail looks inviting.
When a scout completes his first hike, he will receive a patch like this:

As he accumulates 5, 10, and 20 total miles on these hikes he will receive a segment patch signifying each accomplishment. Any scout who completes 25 miles may earn a special award from his pack (this is up to each pack on its own).
Packs that lead a hike will receive the forest green “OUR PACK LED A HIKE OF THE MONTH” ribbon for their flag poles.
When?
Usually on the second Sunday of every month at 2 pm. Please check the calendar carefully for updates.
For whom?
Any and all interested cub scouts and parents, siblings, friends, and others are welcome to join. (All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times; certain rules and limitations may apply.)
Who runs it?
We all do. This should be a collaboration with adults from many packs taking part. Let’s share the fun and choice among all the packs in our area. This is a great chance to get the kids and adults together for fellowship and collaboration.
We must also have at least two registered leaders at each hike to provide minimum two-deep leadership.
