Our 150th and final gift certificate was distributed to a lucky shopper on Saturday, January 3rd. Each year we have increased the number of certificates available - last year we distributed 100, and this year 150 - based on funding available for the program. We hope to raise an increased level of funding to support this incentive for DecemberFest ’09, so that more gift certificates are available to award our loyal shoppers. We apologize to those of you who brought in receipts and were unable to receive a gift certificate this season. Supplies were limited to 150, given out on a 1st come, 1st served basis. We hope that the DecemberFest program has raised your awareness about the importance of shopping in the neighborhood and supporting your local economy first. Mt. Airy’s local businesses need and appreciate your support. For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $45 goes back into the community – and our tax base. Conversely, for every $100 spent at a chain store, only $14 comes back to the local economy. Local business owners invest in our community and our future: 95% of Mt. Airy’s retail businesses are owned and operated by Mt. Airy residents. Please remember to redeem your gift certificates at the participating businesses listed on the back on or before May 2nd.
