1962 Vespa 150 LML engine replacement
1962 Vespa 150 LML engine replacement
no oil injection, no electric start
5-port 150cc motor for 4-speed scooters. These Motors are so popular we can barely keep them in stock! Why rebuild when you can install a brand new motor that's faster, smoother, and more reliable than the original?
This engine has electronic ignition, and you might need to change your scooter's wiring harness to get the lights working. It has a single unregulated wire for lighting. You'll have to mount the coil somewhere on your frame. Fits in any large frame scooter 1959 and up, except for GS150. Comes with an exhaust too!
Also handy is the short wiring harness to hook the CDI unit to the engine.
So i found a worthy misfit vintage vespa in need of a little care and attention. It looked like everything was there and i figured that i could get it going without too much trouble.
Hi, my name is Cam. It was over ten years ago that i sold my Lambretta TV200 and i have been kicking myself ever since.
I soon found that what this old VBB 150 needed was a complete engine rebuild. I discovered on line that i could buy a new engine just like this one for a little less than the price of a rebuild and it would take less time to be up and running.
I bought one understanding that this is a brand new Stella engine and, that with a little guidance and a few extra parts, it would work great in my old scoot.
So far i have had trouble getting the help i need in town from the local scooter shops and i have yet to find any websites that address this install and conversion. This web site has two goals.
The first is to illustrate the problems that i am running into and find help with getting mine up and running.
The second is, as i find solutions, to show others that are buying this popular engine how to install and convert one of these to your vintage Vespa.
There are two general issues that i will address:
1.The rear wheel.
2.The wiring.
The purpose of this site is to figure out how to put a new engine into a vintage vespa
