Buiga Sunrise Updates

There were many helping hands at Sunrise this year. We would like to dedicate this update to all the wonderful people who contributed their time and talents to our organization. Volunteering is an amazing way to give and learn at the same time. It can help us open our eyes to the things that truly matter.

Michael, Nicole and Nassali visited Uganda in May and we are so happy with all the progress that has been made at Buiga Sunrise. The preschool and grounds look well maintained, the children are healthy and the parents are actively involved in all the community programs. We can’t express how wonderful it feels to see Sunrise taking root and growing thanks to the efforts of our staff, teachers, sponsors, volunteers and of course our management committee. Thank you!

Grace Family Clinic

Construction of the new clinic is underway - we’ve put up a fence, installed a security gate, laid the foundations and started on the walls! Our Special Projects Director, Steven Tamale, designed the clinic and is overseeing construction. So far we are right on schedule and within our building budget. To date we have raised $7,400 and a sponsor has given us a loan of $6,000. We still need to raise funds for the installation of a solar power system and an underground water tank as well as furnishings and medical supplies for the clinic.

The Sunrise Students have been busy writing letters to their sponsors. The children are grateful for the opportunity to go to school and they spent a lot of time coloring the letters so they could show their best work.

We will be mailing packages to all the sponsors in January with report cards and samples of their children’s work.
