Friday 3/9/10

Off to Kilbeggan at three with two runners this evening. Carutomark we think she is well enough to run a big race but she dragged her hind legs through the first and lost her action and jumping ability as she was back sore. Carutomark is now retired from racing. Stella runs thirty minutes later and should she feel up to it she could run well and as it happened she quit once pressured as expected. Philip said she jumped great and once she did not get her own way she downed tools. Stella has run her last race. Stablegate Racing Club.com members below;

Today’s weather is as good as it gets, not to hot not to cold, sunny and breezy what a day to train horses on the Curragh and at the farm. At he Curragh Duers is training as well as he could be. Capt C is breaking my heart in that I am not happy with him yet Andrew said he felt great. Inwood is coming back in to form and may now run in Listowel. Hetty 2yo trains beautifully, Sparkie (2yo) dose not give a sh-t and is happy to what he is asked to do, and Inv Sp is doing just great. The worries I had over the last three weeks are no longer. The horses have regained their bloom. At the farm Golan Go looks great for the first time this year and everybody else trained as they should.

Thursday 2/9/10

Today my father Clem is 93 and all the lights are still on.  He still plays Golf many times a week and is fit and well. 93 years is a long time to be around and still to be active is the icing on the cake of life. Will I get there - most unlikely as with most of us.

Today was a quit day on the training front.
We had two lots of three to the Curragh schooling ground sand: Duers (pictured)galloped well, Golan Go his coat is coming right, Capt C galloped ok, Inv Sp is coming along, Inwood is nearing a run and Hetty 2yo galloped with Inwood and she needs to relax a bit more for my liking but she show much promise.

At the farm everybody went well and the breakers are coming along as they should.

Carutomark runs in Kilbeggan tomorrow in 0-123 handicap chase three miles and one furlong. She appears to be fresh and well and a good run is expected. She has about ten days left to run again should we want to as she is closing in on 120 days in foal. Stella Matutina runs in the race just after in a Beginners Chase. Stella jumps very well and she is fit. I wish the race was three miles rather than 20f. She has disappointed lately but she is fit and well and first time jumping fences might rekindle her interest.

Tipsters Corner has ten contributors today with tips. The €100 bet to the winner for September sponsored by Stablegate Racing Club.com is stirring up a little buzz in our community. Not too late to join and take part.

Wednesday 1/9/10

Today we worked Inv Sp an older yet un-raced 4yo and Sparkie (un-named) 2yo 4f on the Old Vic. Inv Sp was ridden by Jana and her job was to keep Sparkie company. SammyJoe rode Sparkie and it was his first work on the Old Vic and he worked greenly. He tended to shy away from his work mate and he was not sure what was expected from him. For a greenie he worked well. Review today’s video. Inv Sp will work on Saturday with an older horse.

In the first lot Duers (photo) galloped alone on the schooling
ground sand today and he appears to be well. First day at Listowel is where he will run next. He will open gallop on Saturday in company. Also in the first lot Carutomark schooled over three fences as she will run next in 25f handicap chase in Kilbeggan on Friday. Stella is also entered for Kilbeggan in a beginners chase and she also schooled but over six fences. Both mares jumped very well.

Today been the 1st of September our Tipsters Corner section has generated new interest and it’s most welcome. For September the tipster will be listed by success in September and today we had a winner thanks to FQ. Well done. More players are welcome and remember there is €100 free bet in October up for grabs. Forward tips, with race time, track, horse, amount, and win or each way to paul@paulmagnier.ie

Carutomark and Stella Matutina will be declared for Friday at Kilbeggan. I will have to wait until declaration before I know who rides them.

Peerey 3/9/10 Leopardstown Champion stakes day, a little bit disappointing there are only 6 runners as this race has international appeal with a wide T V coverage. Some will say Ballydoyle chase away the opposition I don't subscribe to that train of thought it is probably that there are other targets in mind for the top horses. The Mark Johnson team were brave to substitute Sea Lord for this event and at least he and Beethoven will ensure a true gallop. I can see Rip Van taking it up from these two getting the rail and lasting home with the other three fighting it out for second. It is no bet for me I am going to enjoy watching this and all else that goes with this great meeting.

--------------------------------------------------------

Peggy Sue 2/9/10 Hello again its me Peggy Sue, I enjoyed Clonmel, thursdays in Clonmel are always the same, same faces if there is any one missing there gone to have something replaced or they’ve gone on holiday. Well I told Ba what to do but I don’t pay the bills and I don’t blame Ba but this poor game filly does not deserve this pounding. There was very little said by himself it my be coincidence but we were on the Dublin side of Kilkenny on the way home and he muttered something about Sully, I did’nt have to say what because Iv heard them words before and I knew, but he also said we have to watch Azaboy. Now tell me about this racing club, tomorrow says I where we have two runners in Kilbeggan.

--------------------------------------------------------

Peggy (who?) 1/9/10 Hello my name is Peggy, I have been following this blog for some time now and have decided to take part in whats on offer. Tomorrow I am off to Clonmel with himself. I have promised myself not to mention his driving but instead when we get below Kilkenny I am going to tell him I joined the Stablegate Racing Club and I might be involved with runners in Kilbeggan.  You see he is the expert but for me its go racing or stay home, so I go and as result I know as much as him. Now I like following the progress of  the young riders and tomorrow I will watch the apprentice race with particular interest in Ba. Now Ba listen to what the trainer tells you, but Im telling you don’t make as much use of Blackwitch Woman as was the case in Wexford give her a chance to get into a rhythm and she will come home strong, best of luck Peggy.

--------------------------------------------------------

Peerey 30/8/10 Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes always an intriguing race and this year is no different. Take Rajik started 09 with a rating of 58 an unlucky 3rd off 64 in Wexford and now races off 107 in this Listed event hats off to Charlie (Swan) this is a commendable achievement by any standards. For Rajik to win this race will require a big step up on previous performances my best wishes to all concerned.  In the past I have made no secret of my admiration of Address Unknown in fact I even thought he was a Derby horse but that did not work out. Galway may not be the ideal track for Dermot Welds horse but he has to start back somewhere and the 12 furlongs here should be a perfect stepping stone to the Irish St Leger.

--------------------------------------------------------

Peerey 28/8/10 Moyglare day at the Curragh is a big event on the Irish racing calendar. The first three finishers in this contest usually have a say in the top fillies races of the following season and this year will be no different. It is without doubt a very competitive race this year and I am at a loss to nominate my idea of the winner.  There is a very good support program including the valuable Cambridgeshire handicap.  I think this race should be held towards the end of September to give horses that like a bit of give in the ground a crack at a big purse before the season ends.  I like Worldly Wise from a draw that may turn out to be favorable.

€€ EdC: (0/0 0.00pts): (1/0 +60.00pts):

Slapper – Had a terrible draw today in Sligo(tight track), missed the break and wasn’t abused afterwards. The horse stayed on well for 5th. Posted 24/8/10.

Buaiteoir finished 5th this evening 7f h’cap (22/7/10), beaten 4L having been put into the race way too late by Fran Berry. I’d like to see it stepped up to a mile or a little further. Watch out for a 1m 100yds type race at Galway. Posted 23/7/10. ‘He looks set for his mile run in Dundalk on Sunday’ Posted 12/8/10. Finished 1st 15/8 Dundalk @ 6-1.

----------------------------------------------------------

Overlay: (0/0 0.00pts):

Snap Alarm will win shortly with an ease in the ground. Posted 31/8/10.

Treasure Beach stepping up in trip will only get better. Watch that he will not run as a rabbit for stables preferred choice in the future. Posted 31/8/10.

Clearwater Bay at 12f or more will only improve. Posted 31/8/10.

----------------------------------------------------------

Eye Spy: (0/0 0.00pts):

Sobrando Lodge 2nd of 12 1 ¾L behind Smokey Joe Joe at Bellewstown is due a win. Posted 28/8/10.

Chattel House will not be long before she wins. The stewards at Leopardstown likely did not notice her run. Posted 13/8/10.

----------------------------------------------------------

Matt: (0/0 0.00pts):

Bowermaster, runs Sandown 05 Aug. Two promising runs to date. Reason to back him: I bred him! Posted 5/8/10. Finished 5th Sandown 5/8/10.

----------------------------------------------------------

FQ: (0/0 0.00pts):

Lamasaas given a hand ride at Ffos Las today after missing the break, Well backed after good gallop reports and should come on well for the experience - should win its maiden, probably on better ground. Posted 20/7/10. Finished 2nd Pontefract 4/8/10.

Riochas. Ran in 1m Maiden at Wex 27Aug, and was friendless, drifting from 10/1 to 16/1. Travelled wide throughout and finished well to be 3rd under a hand ride behind 2 O'Brien horses. Expect her to collect over 1m2 or so in soft ground in a fillies maiden at a minor track soon. Posted 28/8/10.

----------------------------------------------------------

Peerey: (0/1 - 10.00pts):

Alfa Beat got a 17lb penalty for his impressive win at Galway.  This horse has the profile of a national type and if turning up for the Kerry national in Listowel will take some beating. Any trip from 20 furlongs up on good ground brings out the best in this progressive horse. Posted 30/8/10.

Diamond Shower won well at Cork recently ( 2nd won since ) off his present rating of 93 he should be capable of bagging a couple of wins at 16 to 20 furlongs over hurdles. Posted 24/8/10.

Qadar ran well enough at Cork to suggest he will be winning soon 8 furlongs looks his trip. Posted 23/8/10.

Rewilding. The Leger, at this stage I see no danger

Captain Dunne ran well over an inadequate 5 should win soon stepping up to 6 furs. Posted 20/8/10.

Carutomark I fancy to win her next start at 20f or longer on yielding or better ground hurdling or chasing. Posted 16/7/10. Finished 2nd Limerick 22/7/10. Ran next in Galway outside guides so no loss of point. Finished 12th Roscommon 3/8/10. Pu 3/9/10.

Mister Lucky looks sure to win a race or two off his present rating 19 Furs on good ground looks ideal. Posted 18/7/10. Finished 9th Down Royal 30/8/10.

TC: (0/0 0.00pts):

Riochas slowly away at wexford today for Manning and Bolger , ran a bit green and staying on nicely . should be ready to win next time Posted 28/8/10
