The Bluestocking Guide: Reviews by a Partial, Prejudiced, and Ignorant Reader
2009
This is tax humor, I promise. Well, it's that time of year again. Taxes are due today. I've electronically filed and paid everything. I'm not happy. For the first time ever, I owed money. Why? It was a combination of self-employment and being hired later on at a higher salary. I think I jumped into the next tax bracket. So all those lovely little deductions and adjustments I was able to take advantage of at my lower salary were less for this year. Every little bit helps. So that means I now need to adjust how much is taken out of my paycheck for the rest of this year. Great- more taxes. Oh! How am I channeling Alvin Finch, the character from Boneman's Daughters?
There are 2 taxes benefits that Bluestocking needs, nay three for which she will kill
A husband
2.7 children, and
a house
I am now accepting applications. Hope your tax day is going better than mine.
